ZIO 2015 Discussion

50 will most probably be enough to make it through. The cutoff for 11th last year was 30. Though the paper was easier this year I don’t think the cutoff will raise by more than 10.

Just knowing C++ is not enough. To pass the next level (INOI) you need to know the Basic Topic listed here: http://www.iarcs.org.in/inoi/online-study-material/topics/

Most of us got that last question wrong.

Hey friends , what do u think will be the cut off of this year in ZIO ? Does someone knows about cut offs of last few year?

The cutoffs for previous years are available on the iarcs website. Std 12: 40 Std 11: 30 & for Std 10 or below: 25. The good thing(for us) is that cbse is no longer organizing so very few people gave it this year and the bad thing is that the paper was easy so if we made a careless mistake our chances are decreased significantly. I think it will be last year’s cutoff + 10 marks.

DISCLAIMER: Claims made here about the cutoff are mere speculations and can’t be taken to be absolutely true. (NOTE: Wrote this disclaimer because I don’t want anyone to lose hope/get depressed/ask about cutoffs, however you may post your mistakes for other benefit) (By the way as you already know I get 40 in class 12 and a big ZERO in ZCO) ;-(

That why the "I THINK it will be last year’s cutoff + 10 ", anyway 3 days to go.

By what time today , the results are gonna be announced?

And does someone pass if he/she scores the same as the cut off?

Well, a too late reply. But we cant be sure about it, in the examples they never even went to 2. And by the way, the results were supposed to be out by today…do we get a mail if we are selected?

They didn’t give any time frame. Yes, if you score the same as cutoff you’ve cleared the exam and can give the next round.

Hi Everyone.
I’m scoring 50 according to the answer key as given on the first page of this question and hopefully I’ll qualify for INOI. Since I’ve no previous experience in sport programming, can someone tell me which all topics from this page should I do exhaustively (as I am pretty sure that completing all these topics before the end of Jan is next to impossible).

So if someone could help me out, it’d be great.

Another thing: is Java allowed in INOI (since I’m finding c++ a little annoying, though I’m pretty comfortable in Java)?

Announced.

Cutoff increased by 5 this year.

You’ve qualified, cutoff was 45 even for 12th. You need to learn the topics listed under Basic Topics. There seems to always be one question based on Dynamic Programming. The cutoff is also usually 1 question out of 2.

It’s possible that Java will be included, since it is planned to be included in IOI 2015, but I don’t know for sure.

Congratulations, your answer is also considered.

Hi @superty.
Right now, I’m in class 10th, so yeah, it’ll great if I qualify but I’m a little doubtful because the paper this year was significantly easy than last year’s.
And should I do all the topics given under Basic Topics, or some specific ones? I would be greatful if you could point out the prominent topics from which questions are most likely to come.
Thanks.

EDIT: Yay! I got selected. Hope to face all of you in INOI  All the Best to everyone.

No, I meant the cutoff this year was 45, you’ve already qualified. Here: http://www.iarcs.org.in/inoi/2015/zio2015/results_zio2015.php

You should learn all the Basic Topics. The most prominent topic is Dynamic Programming.

I scored 35 and i am in 11. I would have scored 45 if i dont made a silly mistake.
Last year I qualified ZIO But wasnt able to prepare for INOI.

Really feeling very bad.

Cutoffs are:-
Std 12: 45
Std 11: 40
Std 10: 35

For question 4 there are two answers

Update: Prof. Mukund mentioned in his email to study the Basic Topics for INOI.

I didnt make it with 40 marks ;-(… Last year… Only because of silliness in two sub parts
