What are the best online resources for compiling and editing Unix Shell Scripting?
Also, is there source from where I can download an ISO image file and hence make a bootable pen-drive containing UNIX?

There are not much online resources but few are:-

I advise that you practice in a proper environment if you are serious about it.

Also unix is not free but you can use any distribution of linux and almost all the sites have a tutorial on how to make a bootable pen drive.
